So we've decided to slightly refine the retirement process to better reflect the careers of the players, rather than the outlook of the NHL at the time period we are honouring here on ManNHL: Lockout. A guy in this league will retire when he stopped playing recognized professional hockey in real life. So if he left the NHL in 2005, spent 2 years in the AHL (til '07), then 2 years in Europe (til 09), then never played hockey again, you have him for 5 more years (til end of '09 season). He will NOT ManNHL-retire in 2004. If players retired for a few years, then came back and played more seasons (ex: Hasek, Jagr), they will play during the time they were temporarily retired, and ManNHL-retire when they stopped playing hockey permanently. The guide for this structure will be the Internet Hockey DataBase, as always. So once your players career runs out on there, he's done. Whether he be 21 or 61. So remember, the last season he played, as per HockeyDB.com, is his last season. If you have specific questions about specific players/cases, feel free to PM PR (or Toronto) for clarification. If you have an odd case like Gordie Howe's career, please do NOT assume he will be playing and be disappointing if he reties. Get clarification. Be certain.
