Alright, here's what I think we may want to do:
Speed sim on a month to month basis, allowing you to alter lines, make trades and whatnot. We get through this season, enjoy the playoffs and move to the draft.
Off-season:
We switch to a 25 Man Roster Limit. 2 More than current, allowing you to freely select and keep the two players selected in the draft. We drop to 20 teams - eliminating 6. This makes the league more competitive with fewer absent teams. We will have 20 dedicated members. We do a two-round promotion draft at the same time as the regular draft. You thus get to improve two more players on your team - the players will be based on the six folded teams plus all the available free agents. This will be the last time you get to openly upgrade a player on your club through free-swapping.
Furthermore:
- After every rookie season, rookies improve, then remain consistent. - Every off-season, teams submit two players to be improved, including a reason why citing stats and whatnot.
This would make it almost anyone's season to win every single year - you always have a chance in the playoffs. It filters the talent pool again, making it that much more competitive - also better opportunities to trade with everyone having more players in the high 80s.
Thoughts? Likes, hates, changes?

Alright, any thoughts instead? I posted this collection for people to pick apart, so please keep picking apart and we'll get it where we want it.

Another thing we could do, if everyone wants it, is introduce legends OR incorporate two drafts at the same time.
For instance:
Our next draft is the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Every team has 2 draft picks. You are permitted to draft a player either from the available players in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft OR a player from another draft year in sequential order:
2006, 1986. 2007, 1987.
And so on and so forth. We essentially merge this year and 20 years ago into one draft as if they were all 18. This gives you more better players to draft, and mildly introducing legends but only based on top tier players of the last 30 years.
We could also grab the best players from the 1980-1985 draft and put them up for a 1 time only auction, followed by placement (and whoever was lost in those auctions) into free agency for first-come first-served grab.
Thoughts? We don't necessarily have to eliminate teams, was just throwing out ideas on how to make your rosters more fun.

I miss the ManNHL with salaries, and PR, and contracts, and free agency. Coaches etc etc
I miss the most realistic sim league on the net.
I think this league, with all that ^^^ would have been super fun

So you're saying bring back salaries and PR, and ALSO have the double drafts to introduce recent legends?

No, no legends, just one draft the entry draft, no more cutting teams, heck, if we didn't give away all the players, I would say bring back the teams that would be dismantled and work hard to fill them. However we can't do that.
I was saying, that from the start, the plan was to have free agency, contracts, pr, all of that, but in 2005. People would be able to rebuild their teams, or go for the cup right away. Building up to present day.
I think that would have been the best way to go. With consistent simming, people would have gotten way into it. Things were torn apart after a season where not much activity was happening, but that was because people didn't have anything to do the 1st season.

Cor, we did all that. When extension time came around, basically 4 teams signed extensions. The rest, we had to auto-sign. There is NO POINT at all in a PR league when you have to auto-sign the whole league. That was why we moved ManNHL here, and why we abandoned that idea here. Most people found it too time consuming to do contracts and everything, with university and stuff. And in 5 months, you will be in the same boat.

We will try and fill the other teams, most are against dumping more teams.
So basically what everyone wants then is exactly how it is right now, except maybe 2 extra players on their roster and the ability to improve players overalls.
