Argument 1 - that has to do with Canes, not me, so I can't answer on that part.
Argument 2 - Of course he has the POTENTIAL to be a star goalie. Why didn't you reject my Kariya/Sharp trade? Sharp has the POTENTIAL to be a star. Potential is never a guarantee. It's a gamble taken on by both sides; I'm giving up an asset for what MIGHT be an asset (or even a better asset) or may even be a dud. I cant tell - its a sim league.
Argument 3 - Couldnt care less whether other GMs like/dislike my deal(s). Rather irrelevant, and actually kind-of biased considering that most will reject based on names, without considering that we're in 2004 and not 2012 - Cam Ward has not played an NHL game yet.

Okay, here's PR's Final Thought.
Avs is 100% right. We are not basing this on what guys WILL become, or our entry level contracts (when they come in) will be like, 6M/year for guys like Crosby. And trust me guys - the LAST thing we want to start doing right now is contracts based on what guys eventually become in real life.
Kolzig is a few years removed from a Vezina, we understand that, right? Meaning a few years ago, he was THE BEST GOALIE IN THE LEAGUE. Period. Kolzig is a proven starter. Yes, he is aging. Yes, he retires soon. Yes, we know what Cam Ward will become. But not a single damned person here knew who Cam Ward was in 2004. So what we realistically have to do is balance what a guy IS in 2004, and what he will become thereafter. If Hurricanes wants to do this deal, he can.
Furthermore, Canes has about 5 years (with many draft picks in that time) to replace Kolzig with a young guy. Pretty reasonable time frame for a Cup run, then a rebuild if you ask me.
Now...that being said, in light of the c-box stuff, there was a misunderstanding. But the misunderstanding was Hurricanes, and the logic of that misunderstanding was severely flawed since, as someone said, Cam Ward would have been like, 10, in 1994. But we all make mistakes.
So this is where this leaves us. If we reject this deal, we've made public the fact that Canes will trade Cam Ward for a hamburger, and someone else can swoop in and shaft Colorado, who worked out the original deal. So I am going to allow this trade to go through as is BUT I am going to give Canes the chance to back out based on his "misunderstanding" argument if he wants to. He has said in the C-Box he is still okay with this trade going through as is, but this way, should he change his mind and sell Ward to a higher bidder, it's his action, and not the action of the league. He can therefore take the bad rap for douching out on a posted trade to swing a better one. But that will be HIS burden to bear - not the leagues.
Verdict: Deal waits for Canes to accept/reject one more time, then we go with whatever he says.

It was my fuck up, and I'll take responsibility for it. My personal life is so busy I didn't pay attention to what season it was at all. I just wanted to grab a team, coast through the first few weeks, then get into this league more after my move. I seen Kolzig's name in C-box and pounced without thinking. Compleletly my fault, sorry for my douchbaggery, in a few weeks I'll be a legit member.
I accept.

Really? Because as of the Lockout, Cam Ward has yet to make an NHL appearance. So, essentially, I'm trading a proven goaltender to someone who MIGHT be good in the future. wrong, Kolzig is 35 and came off the worst season of his career as of right now. Your trading a veteran goalie who could be done his career (think worse off than JS Giguere when the Leafs traded for him) and Cam Ward is a former 1st round pick goalie (meaning he has high potential and we all know goalies take longer to develop). Include the fact that Cam Ward has been stupidly successful in his career in the minors this is a terrible trade for Carolina. If this was Kolzig from 5-10 years ago then yes this is an acceptable deal but Kolzig is bad as of this season and about to retire, terrible deal IMO.

Lots of sheep here. At least add something, rather than just quoting what someone else said and posting it. Jeez, people.

Gonna toss something else out for people to think about, since thinking is thin right now:
Ward 29GP 4.01 GAA 10 W 19 L 0.875 %
Kolzig 13GP 3.31GAA 7W 5L 0.892%
People keep telling me its because Kolzig is on Colorado. Aebischer has played as many games as Kolzig, and is at 0.852%, so that's false.
